Payments & lifecycle
A Payment is what you charge; Attempts are how the customer tried to pay.
A payment can have several attempts — for example a declined Idram attempt followed by a successful card attempt. The payment completes when one attempt succeeds.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
created | Created; the customer has not started paying yet. |
pending | Waiting for the customer to pay (also after a failed attempt, while they can retry). |
processing | The provider is processing (e.g. crypto payment detected, awaiting confirmations). |
requires_action | Something needs attention, e.g. a crypto underpayment. |
completed | Money was captured by your provider. Fulfil the order. |
failed | No more attempts are possible. |
expired | Checkout expired before payment. |
cancelled | You cancelled a pending payment. |
unknown | The provider did not answer. OneGate is reconciling — do not ask the customer to pay again. |
partially_refunded / refunded | Refunds completed. |
A payment in
failed, expired, cancelled or unknown can still move to completed if the provider later confirms the money was captured. OneGate always records provider truth; a timeout is never treated as a failure.Order IDs
order_id is your reference. OneGate allows at most one active (non-failed, non-expired) payment per order to protect customers from double charges.
