Onboarding

What you need to test OneGate, and what you need to accept real payments.

The dashboard overview shows a checklist for the environment you are in. Test mode never asks for business documents; live mode does.

Test mode

  1. Add your website (optional for testing).
  2. Connect the Sandbox provider.
  3. Create a test API key (sk_test_…).
  4. Make a test payment and see it on the Payments page with its full timeline.
  5. Configure a webhook endpoint.

Live mode

  1. Submit your business for verification and wait for approval.
  2. Verify ownership of your production website.
  3. Connect a real payment provider using your contract credentials.
  4. Configure a live webhook endpoint.
  5. Create a live API key (sk_live_…) — available after verification.
  6. Accept your first live payment.
A real provider can only be connected once OneGate has implemented it from the provider's official technical documentation. Until then the step shows as blocked — OneGate never guesses provider APIs.
